Eagles deal with crows that try to harass them, sometimes even landing on their backs, by soaring higher into the sky where crows cannot follow. While crows are aggressive, social birds that attack eagles in groups to steal food or protect their territory, they have physiological limits to how high they can fly.
Eagles can comfortably reach altitudes around 10,000 feet, but crows generally top out at about 7,000 feet. Above this height, crows experience dizziness and fainting from lack of oxygen because they do not have the lung capacity of eagles. By flying higher, the eagle escapes the disruptive attacks of the crows, who cannot follow them safely or effectively at those heights.
